Following a survey of 2,000 US adults, Goodroot recently released a detailed guide for employers titled: No More Medical Debt: Leveraging Care Navigation & Hospital Financial Assistance to Craft Affordable Benefits.
More than a dozen broadcast outlets from Oregon to Georgia interviewed Goodroot CEO Mike Waterbury and other leaders from Goodroot and Emry about the report. Here are some of the highlights, including clips from Spectrum News in New York, “Everyday Northwest” on KOIN TV in Oregon, WTMV in Georgia, “Bluff City Life” in Tennessee and more.
The report was also widely covered by healthcare and benefits industry media such as BenefitsPRO, MD Edge, Risk Manager, and HR Dive. These articles highlighted many different findings from the report such as that nearly half (52%) of employees surveyed who currently carry medical debt reported owing more than $2,500 and that 45% of employees said medical debt has impacted their ability to cover daily living expenses.
An article on medical debt from GoBankingRates that was syndicated nationally in outlets such as MSN, Yahoo Finance, Aol and more highlighted that patients often struggle with smaller medical debts. Another article from the same set of outlets cited the report and quoted Goodroot’s Steve Palma on drug costs.
A wide variety of podcasts and radio shows interviewed Mike Waterbury as well such as “Business for Breakfast” out of Phoenix. Mike discussed why employers should view health insurance as an investment in the people that make a business successful and how care navigation gets employers a greater return on that investment.
Emry health advisors also took part in broadcast interviews to shed light on the findings from the report, such as this clip from WENG radio in Florida.
We look forward to No More Medical Debt: Leveraging Care Navigation & Hospital Financial Assistance to Craft Affordable Benefits continuing to be a resource to the press as well as employers and healthcare industry professionals.
