At Goodroot, we’re on a mission to make every interaction between human and health accessible, affordable and seamless.
We are dedicated to fostering new perspectives and empowering tomorrow’s leaders—some who may even enter the complex yet promising healthcare industry. By providing these brilliant young minds with hands-on education, unlimited access to SMEs in their field and a masterclass in business building, our goal is to prepare them to make a meaningful impact on the world.
We asked this summer’s Amplified Services interns to reflect on their experiences. Here’s what they had to say:
Rebecca Berman
A rising junior at Wheaton College in Massachusetts, majoring in business and management with a concentration in marketing, new media and media analytics, Rebecca worked closely with the Marketing team to help prepare for the launch of Empara, a developer of mission-driven healthcare technology built at Goodroot. In addition to conducting market and competitive research, Rebecca also played an integral role in building a team culture book to highlight the incredible talent—and the excellent culture that exist within our community of companies.
“Interning at Goodroot has been an incredibly enriching experience, driven by the guidance of supportive mentors, the collaboration with ambitious peers and a company culture that truly invests in their interns—in both their professional and personal growth.
Throughout my internship, I’ve developed increased confidence in market and segment research. The work I’ve done in this area will help guide content and go-to-market strategies for Goodroot’s companies, which is incredibly rewarding. My writing skills improved significantly, particularly in creating press releases and social media copy. Working on the Culture Book project was a unique opportunity that will benefit me in project management initiatives in the future. I also learned new programs like HubSpot, Salesforce and Figma, and enhanced my skills in Microsoft Office platforms.
Additionally, working with HubSpot and Salesforce allowed me to analyze the number of leads each piece of content was generating. This experience helped me understand the importance of tracking ROI and developing a system to do so effectively. The opportunity to learn how to analyze real-time analytics and measure the impact of our strategies has been eye-opening and invaluable.”
Aarik Googe-Rochester
A senior at the University of Hartford, majoring in Graphic Design, Aarik has been working with the design team on branding for various affiliate companies, social media, tradeshow display’s, insight guide layouts, as well as video and animation. Aarik was also tasked with mastering Figma to build a digital infrastructure for each brand system within Goodroot.
“When I first started my internship, I was tasked with producing videos to spotlight Goodroot’s Amplified Services vertical. I learned to splice audio, swap title cards, source stock footage appropriately, and critical time management skills.
When I moved into what I consider my proudest and largest project, I was familiar with the design program, Figma at an intermediate level. I had been tasked with building a digital infostructure for each brand system within Goodroot. The process of porting individual assets, naming and categorizing each of them, building a system and then finally putting them to use for social media templates was incredibly rewarding. I took pride in learning semantic naming, understanding the systems within Figma to make the creation process as easy as possible for a non-designer end user. I truly relish this experience as it boosted my skill level in the program and taught me how to think more for an end user.
Goodroot has made it possible for me to expand my perspective not only as a designer but as an adult. This experience has taught me life skills such as budgeting time, working in a collaborative team environment, the importance of a LinkedIn presence—as well as a basic understanding of our nation’s healthcare system. I have grown in confidence, ability and industry knowledge and I could not thank my mentors enough for all their support throughout my time. Every sync meeting, monthly content huddle, town hall and happy hour, have been fantastic. There is nothing short of greatness within this organization and I am thrilled to have been a part.”
