Steve has dedicated his professional career to developing and leading innovative industry solutions. As President of Goodroot’s Medical Cost Solutions, Steve has overseen the launch, advisement and scale of Goodroot-affiliated healthcare businesses that lower patient costs and remove financial waste from the healthcare system. To date, Goodroot has removed over $1 Billion in wasted healthcare spend from the industry. In addition, Steve also serves as President of Sola Health, a Goodroot community company, committed to lowering healthcare costs for employers and their employees through custom-built unbundled, self-funded benefit designs coupled with seamless care-cost navigation.

Steve spent the first ten years of his career learning and taking on increasing levels of responsibility at Oxford Health Plans—specializing in claims adjudication and accuracy, and later tackling payment integrity in emerging high-cost trend areas, including specialty pharmacy. After learning the ins and outs of complex payment integrity within the payer space, Steve co-founded WayMark Associates, a forward-thinking claim overpayment identification and recovery firm that worked on behalf of health plans. Steve has also held operational, customer success and sales executive management roles within Emblem Health, Cotiviti, and Clarity Software Solutions.

When asked about why he joined Goodroot and its community of companies, Steve said, “When I was presented the opportunity to build out medical cost solutions that help address the growing problem of consumer medical debt in this country, now the leading cause of bankruptcy, I jumped at the chance. I envision a healthcare system where cost is considered as part of a patient’s well-being and care.”
